About us
MiRO in Karlsruhe is one of the most efficient and energy-efficient refineries in Europe.
We refine crude oil into petrol, diesel and heating oil for our four shareholders – mobility and heat for 10 million people. Statistically speaking, every third liter of petrol in Germany comes from us. Other “refined” products are bitumen for road construction and feedstock for the chemical industry. We also feed process waste heat into the city’s district heating network for thousands of households.
MiRO is part of the energy transition. Around 1,100 employees are working together to continue to supply our region with energy in the future – with an increasing focus on renewable and synthetic fuels.
