Energy Transition Engineer (m/f/d)

Your tasks

  • You activate the citizens in the individual neighborhoods to renovate buildings
  • You will identify common requirements for refurbishment and heating system replacement in Stuttgart and develop suitable solutions
  • You will also be responsible for the further development and coordination of energy-saving measures and the expansion of renewable energies in the area of small and medium-sized enterprises, including companies in Stuttgart
  • You will identify potential energy savings in the corporate sector and work on national and international research projects
  • You will also be responsible for the design and implementation of information events and a training series for climate protection officers and trainees to support them in implementing climate protection measures
  • You will continue to develop the existing industrial funding program for building refurbishment for non-residential buildings and process the funding applications
  • You will prepare the energy and economic assessments of the solutions for all parties involved in a clear and target group-oriented manner

Your qualifications

  • Engineer with a scientific university degree (Master’s or Diploma) in the field of energy and climate protection or related disciplines (in the case of foreign degrees, state recognition in Germany is required)
  • Sound knowledge in the field of energy technology, especially in the building sector (non-residential and residential)
  • Ability to present complex issues to non-specialists (companies, citizens) in a way that is understandable and encourages implementation
  • High willingness to familiarize yourself quickly, independently and reliably with complex tasks and to represent the interests of the department
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in German and English as well as a very confident and communicative manner

About us

We are looking for you for the Office for Environmental Protection of the City of Stuttgart. The position is permanent.
The Energy Department of the Office for Environmental Protection is technically responsible for and coordinates the implementation of the energy and climate protection concept adopted by the City Council with the aim of making the City of Stuttgart climate-neutral as quickly as possible. Furthermore, the department is centrally responsible for the reliable procurement and billing of the energy and water requirements of the properties of the state capital Stuttgart.
