As a distribution grid operator in the regions of Heinsberg, Mönchengladbach, Viersen and parts of the Rhine district of Neuss, NEW Netz GmbH plays a key role in making the energy transition a success. We are responsible for the operation, planning, maintenance and expansion of the local and regional electricity, natural gas and drinking water distribution networks as well as the operation of metering points. Your tasks

  • You create world and system images and ensure a connection with the systems in the area. You will implement new smart functions that provide indispensable support for the operations managers
  • You will look after our control systems (e.g. PSI, Vivavis, Kisters), carry out regular data backups and restore operations in an emergency. You will also analyze and rectify faults and work closely with the manufacturers. Operating systems such as Windows, Windows Server and Linux also fall within your area of responsibility
  • You will be responsible for commissioning and setting up various systems, including substations (UA), switchgear (SA), renewable energy systems (EEG), local network stations (ONS) and pipe systems, and then handing them over to operations management. In addition, you will implement semi-automated procedures for fault location in the power grid with various neutral point handling
  • You will introduce new functions, e.g. for cascade control, redispatch (feed-in control) and reactive power control, to make our grid more efficient and keep it stable at all times
  • You train colleagues who are given access to the control system as terminal users from the various specialist areas (e.g. electricity, gas, wastewater, drinking water)
  • You will program, test and commission switching programs that are required to control and monitor the grid processes

Your qualifications

  • You have successfully completed vocational training in electrical engineering and a master craftsman’s degree in this field
  • You are confident in using Microsoft Office, Project, Jira, Confluence and Teams
  • You are in possession of a valid class B driving license
  • Ideally, you have already gained some experience with control technology applications
  • Knowledge of English is desirable
