Sustainable. Digital. Regional – the Stadtwerke Lübeck Group is the leading municipal provider for all services relating to energy, digitalization, mobility and infrastructure. With our high-performance products, we connect living environments, network people and companies, promote local value creation and provide powerful and committed support for sport, education and cultural life. Responsible, focused on the common good and committed to the diversity of people and their lifestyles, we are shaping the climate and mobility transition for the citizens in and around Lübeck. With around 1,500 employees, we are one of the 20 largest employers in Schleswig-Holstein.
With its products, SWL Energie guarantees a secure and efficient energy supply, the responsible use of resources and stands for social commitment. Year after year, we make an important contribution to the Lübeck region.
Over the next few years, Stadtwerke Lübeck Energie GmbH will implement massive expansion plans in the area of expansion and greening of district heating and expansion of renewable energies and flexibility, as well as in water management, and invest in technical assets, thus making a significant contribution to achieving climate protection targets. As part of this exciting transformation and the ambitious expansion of our asset portfolio in the direction of the energy transition, we are looking for reinforcement in the development and evaluation of robust asset portfolios.

Your tasks

  • Sustainable energy supply is exactly your topic and with your passion for holistic asset portfolio optimization you develop the optimal asset portfolio piece by piece across the topics of district heating, renewable energies, flexibilities and water.
  • You have an overview of the relevant market and price risks and are responsible for the scenario data used (ownership). Together with other internal departments, you evaluate possible future scenarios and create risk profiles, which you use to structure and evaluate the development strategies for the asset portfolio.
  • You contribute your in-depth understanding of the energy market to strategic pricing for the technical areas and structure market risks together with the Trading and Supply Management department, taking into account the strategic investment pipeline for the asset portfolio.
  • You regularly monitor the overall asset portfolio performance, identify and communicate optimization potential and ensure implementation.
  • You set up model calculations for the right and relevant questions and subject our asset portfolio to a stress test using consistent extreme scenarios. You will assess your results holistically, consult with all key stakeholders and provide data-based decision-making maturity for profitability decisions.
  • You are part of the plant deployment planning team and ensure that we have economically optimal schedules and bids for all district heating networks on a daily basis and determine the electricity and gas volumes that are traded on the energy markets in the short and medium term.
  • As an energy industry professional, your technical and business expertise puts you in the thick of things rather than just being there, as you contribute to successful strategic and operational asset management in the areas of district heating, water, renewable generation and flexibility.

Your qualifications

  • Completed Master’s degree in energy economics, economics, engineering or environmental sciences, or mathematics or equivalent knowledge, skills and qualifications
  • Excellent understanding of the energy market, as well as a strong entrepreneurial and business understanding and analytical and conceptual thinking.
  • Profound know-how in quantitative methods and tools, in the structuring of risks and options relevant for the derivation of data-based decisions for the sustainable optimization and further development of the asset park.
  • Knowledge in the holistic optimization of asset portfolios of the energy industry consisting of technical plants of district heating, renewable energies, battery storage and technical plants of water management.
  • Sound understanding of the functioning and sensitivities of investment options in technical assets
  • Very good knowledge of Python, Matlab, MS Excel VBA or comparable languages, proficient in the use of SAP, Power BI and other tools as well as in key figure systems and data governance
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in comparable positions
