Your responsibilities

  • You will join the DUH Living Seas team within the Nature Conservation and Biodiversity Department. This interdisciplinary team advocates for marine protected areas, ecosystem-friendly fisheries, restoration, and species conservation through policy-oriented nature conservation. We look forward to your active support in this work! The position is part of a newly launched project for effective marine protected areas in the North Sea. You will work closely with the team and project leadership as well as other team members.
  • Strategic planning and implementation of project communications, particularly politically and publicly impactful campaigns for Germany and Brussels (including effective marine protected areas, ending destructive fishing practices, transforming Germany’s fisheries, ending fossil fuel extraction at sea, and enforcing
  • Forming alliances, networking, and close collaboration with national and international partners and partner projects
  • Preparation and support of video and photo campaigns, influencer collaborations, and events
  • Supporting political lobbying in Germany and Brussels

Your qualifications

  • A college degree, preferably in political science, communication, environmental studies, social sciences, media studies, journalism, or a comparable field
  • Several years of relevant professional experience in political campaigning, strategic communication, or advocacy, ideally in environmental, climate, nature, or marine conservation, preferably with an NGO
  • Experience collaborating with media outlets, coalitions, initiatives, external service providers, and civil society actors
  • Initiative, independence, and reliability, as well as the ability to quickly adapt to new work environments
  • A professional demeanor on the national and international political stage, as well as a willingness to travel regularly
  • Strong communication skills and excellent written and spoken English are required
