Business Development Manager (m/f/d) Energy Industry
Here at energy & meteo systems , together with our partner companies emsys VPP and emsys grid services , we do our very best every day to efficiently integrate renewable energy into power grids and markets and to further advance the energy transition. To this end, we offer our customers—electricity retailers and grid operators worldwide—cutting-edge software products and full-service solutions. These include wind and solar output forecasts, virtual power plants for controlling decentralized energy systems, and a platform concept for proactive grid planning.
Your Responsibilities
- As a Business Development Manager, you’ll be the driving force behind the sales team and support us both operationally and strategically:
- You’ll tap into new markets and build sales partnerships worldwide—to do this, you’ll keep a close eye on the competition and industry trends and continuously analyze the market.
- With us, you won’t be doing traditional sales or cold calling—you’ll manage individual markets, including existing customers, as well as inquiries from potential new customers who reach out to us.
- Through back-and-forth dialogue with the customer, you’ll identify their needs, match them with our solutions, win them over with your technical expertise, and stay firmly in the driver’s seat when it comes to topics such as power trading, scheduling, market operations, balancing power, redispatch, and more.
- With your keen understanding of the energy market, you’ll also develop new business concepts and discuss their feasibility with your team.
- Networking is one of your strengths: You confidently represent us at international trade shows and conferences and enjoy giving technical presentations from time to time.
Your Qualifications
- For this exciting position, you’ll need in-depth knowledge of the energy industry, including energy markets, renewable energy, and—ideally—the power grid; otherwise, you’re eager to learn and motivated to drive the energy transition forward.
- Your professional experience in international sales is important—for example, as a customer advisor, key account manager, sales engineer, or similar role—and ideally, you’ve already worked with complex software services.
- A degree in economics or engineering—preferably in energy economics, natural sciences, industrial engineering, business administration, or a comparable field—is a plus.
- You have a strong command of German and English; knowledge of additional foreign languages is a plus.
- You’re a strong negotiator and communicate with your clients as an equal—always keeping country-specific nuances in mind.
- In addition to your networking skills, you’re willing to travel and are flexible for this role.
- You value teamwork in the office just as much as working independently from home—and you never lose sight of your goals.
