Product Owner (m/f/d) – Virtual Power Plant – Software for Power Generation Facilities

Here at energy & meteo systems, together with our partner companies emsys VPP and emsys grid services, we do our very best every day to efficiently integrate renewable energy into power grids and markets. To this end, we offer our customers — electricity retailers and grid operators worldwide — forward-looking software products and full-service solutions. In addition to wind and solar output forecasts, these include virtual power plants for controlling decentralized energy systems, as well as a platform concept for proactive grid planning.

Your Responsibilities

  • As a Product Owner, you’ll play a key role in agile project management. You’ll be responsible for a specific component of our “Virtual Power Plant” software solution and ensure that the product meets customer expectations.
  • Strategy: You have a clear product vision in mind and work with the team to drive the further development of our service.
  • Requirements Management: You systematically gather all customer requirements, prioritize features, and ensure optimal implementation by our development team.
  • Product Cycle: You oversee all stages of the development process and are responsible for ensuring that a highly functional and commercially successful product is created.
  • Stakeholder Management: You serve as the central hub for information from the Key Accounting and Software Development departments, with which you collaborate closely.
  • Market Screening: You keep a constant eye on the industry, the competition, and current market needs, and align our product strategy with our corporate values accordingly.

Your Qualifications

  • You have a college degree, for example in energy economics, renewable energy, energy and environmental engineering, business informatics, or industrial engineering, or a comparable qualification.
  • You have gained initial professional experience in product management, IT product procurement, technical sales, as a project manager or Scrum Master in software development, or in a similar role.
  • Your familiarity with our services is key—thanks to your IT aptitude, you can quickly grasp complex software products.
  • Communication skills: You are an active listener, can clearly explain technical topics, present compelling arguments, and value collaboration within the team.
  • Ideally, you’re already familiar with the energy market, renewable energy, and power grids, or you’re open to learning about topics such as direct marketing, balancing power, and redispatch.
