Asset Life Cycle Manager for HVDC Systems (m/f/d)

TenneT is growing to achieve its strategic goals: We’re tackling the transformation of the energy sector. We’re driving the energy transition! Join us—with a job that truly makes a difference! We’re looking for two passionate Asset Life Cycle Managers for HVDC Systems (m/f/d) at our Bayreuth or Lehrte (near Hanover) locations—maybe that’s you?
The Asset Management & Technology department is responsible for the asset strategy throughout the life cycle in accordance with ISO 55000 and makes cross-functional investment decisions. It manages the costs, risks, and performance of the asset portfolios, develops maintenance strategies, and supports the planning, construction, and operation of the grid. It also defines technical requirements, develops scalable technologies, and creates long-term grid solutions. The unit drives the digitization of asset information and is responsible for real estate management, including easements and contracts.
TenneT is a leading European grid operator. We are committed to a safe and reliable electricity supply—24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We are helping to shape the energy transition—for a sustainable, reliable, and affordable energy future. As the first cross-border transmission system operator, we plan, build, and operate a high- and extra-high-voltage grid spanning over 25,000 kilometers in the Netherlands and large parts of Germany, and our 17 interconnectors with neighboring countries enable the European energy market. With revenue of 9.2 billion euros and total assets of 45 billion euros, we are one of the largest investors in national and international power grids, both onshore and offshore. Every day, our 8,300 employees give their best and, guided by our values of responsibility, courage, and collaboration, ensure that more than 43 million end users can rely on a stable electricity supply.

Your Responsibilities

  • You will assume end-to-end responsibility for the strategic asset lifecycle management of our offshore grid connections and HVDC systems, actively shaping the asset strategy in line with corporate goals and regulatory requirements
  • In doing so, you will develop and manage an integrated, risk-based lifecycle and portfolio management system that systematically optimizes costs (TOTEX), risks, technical performance, and security of supply, and enables transparent prioritization and investment decisions
  • At the system and portfolio levels, you will structure complex technical, regulatory, and economic issues and derive robust, decision-ready options as well as strategic recommendations for top management
  • You will continuously evaluate technological developments (including offshore connection systems, HVDC, interconnectors, and multi-terminal architectures) and translate them into scalable standards, grid development, and asset strategies
  • You will establish a holistic KPI and performance management system across the entire lifecycle, while further developing the asset management framework (e.g., in accordance with ISO 55000) and acting as a central interface between engineering, projects, operations, finance, and external stakeholders.

Your Qualifications

  • You have a degree in electrical engineering or a comparable engineering discipline, or a comparable qualification
  • You have relevant professional experience in strategic asset management of complex energy infrastructures, particularly in the areas of offshore grid connections, HVDC, or transmission grids
  • In addition, you have proven expertise in lifecycle strategies, asset portfolio management, risk-based decision-making, and techno-economic evaluation (including TOTEX)
  • You are distinguished by a thorough understanding of relevant technologies (especially HVDC and offshore) as well as experience in integrating new technologies into standards and organizational frameworks
  • You specifically bring to the table your strong ability to structure complex issues, identify decision options, and communicate at the management level and manage stakeholders in an international environment
  • Your profile is rounded out by excellent German and English language skills
