Business Development & Sales Manager – Energy and Climate Protection (m/f/d)

As an engineering and consulting service provider, we are active worldwide in projects that drive forward the energy transition, promote environmental protection and contribute to improving the quality of life for all of us. As Business Development & Sales Manager – Energy and Climate Protection (m/f/d), you will be responsible for strategic business development in the field of energy and climate protection with a focus on engineering services for energy storage systems,
Your tasks
- Strategic business development: systematic identification, evaluation and development of new business opportunities with existing clients and acquisition of potential new clients in the field of energy & climate protection
- Development and placement of management consulting services as an integral part of ILF’s energy & climate protection portfolio. Supporting clients in strategic decision-making and transformation processes in the context of the energy transition
- Client management: Establishing, maintaining and developing long-term relationships with key clients in order to expand and secure sales potential
- Analysis & planning: Preparation of market, competition and customer analyses to identify new trends and growth areas
- Offer management: preparing, managing and negotiating individual offers and contracts in close cooperation with the operating unit
- Cross-selling and upselling: advising customers on expanded service areas in order to optimally support their business goals
- Process optimization: Support in the further development of sales processes, including the control of internal knowledge management
- Branding: Participation in specialist and industry conferences and creation of specialist articles for publication in social media, online and print media to strengthen the external market presence
- Cooperation (internal and external): Intensive cooperation and interface management with all service areas in Germany as well as our teams in France and Spain
Your qualifications
- Degree in industrial engineering, engineering sciences, energy technology, environmental technology or comparable. Equivalent qualification through relevant professional experience in business development/sales of engineering, consulting or planning services
- At least 8-10 years of relevant professional experience (sales or business development of technical services, ideally in the energy or planning environment)
- In-depth knowledge of project management
- Very good knowledge of the energy sector (e.g. renewable energies, hydrogen, grids, heat, decarbonization) Experience with complex bidding and awarding processes (public & private clients)
- Strategic & entrepreneurial thinking with a clear understanding of the market and customers
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Relationship and stakeholder management (authorities, operators, municipalities, consortia)
- Own network of customer contacts from the industry
- Negotiating skills & strong closing skills in complex, multi-stage sales cycles
- Structured way of working, prioritization, reliability, resilience in dynamic project environments
- Very good knowledge of German and English (at least C1)
- Willingness to travel DACH/Europe if required
