Consultant (f/m/d) European energy policy
(limited to 9 months - parental leave replacement)

BDEW's EU representation in Brussels is the voice of the German energy and water industry in Europe and the first point of contact for all questions relating to European energy, water and environmental policy. As the link between the BDEW head office in Berlin, the state organizations and member companies, it represents the interests of the industry in dealings with European institutions, umbrella organizations, regulators and stakeholders and draws up the corresponding strategies. In doing so, the EU Representation provides information on current and planned legislation and initiatives at EU level and thus serves as an early warning system for the member companies.

Your tasks:

  • The focus of activities is the independent processing of energy-relevant topics at European level, in particular European energy policy with a focus on the electricity and internal market;electricity domestic market, European regulatory issues / European grid issues, electricity infrastructure, energy trading and digitalization
  • Political representation of the interests of the German energy industry at European level, in particular vis-à-vis the institutions of the European Union and international organizations
  • Regular reporting, monitoring and issue management on energy-relevant EU topics
  • Development of technical statements, argumentation papers and industry positions
  • Involvement in internal association committees and support for committee work in the European associations (EURELECTRIC, CEEP)
  • Media preparation of topics, e.g. through specialist articles, webinars and the conception of information and discussion events as well as the technical and content preparation of lectures / presentations

Your profile:

  • Successful degree (diploma/master's degree); professional experience in the field of European energy and environmental policy is an advantage
  • Very good knowledge of European institutions and European legislation, a good political sense and a good understanding of complex relationships and processes at EU level
  • Experience in project management and moderation
  • Confident appearance, enjoyment of independent work, negotiating skills, good oral and written communication skills and the ability to present specialist topics for the political field in a concise and understandable manner
  • Business fluent in written and spoken English and very good knowledge of the common Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
