Consultant (m/f/d) Network Management/Regulation

Location: Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia

The Regulation team continuously analyzes and monitors developments in the regulatory framework as well as European and national legislative procedures in the energy industry. The aim is to identify and actively minimize potential risks for grid operators at an early stage and to make targeted use of any opportunities that arise. We see ourselves as a strategic driving force and reliable point of contact - both within the Westenergie Group and in exchange with external partners.

That's what you stand up for:

  • You accompany legislative and regulatory procedures in close coordination with the legal department, e.g. new electricity grid fee system (AgNeS) and its implementation as well as advising and supporting Westenergie's communications and policy department on grid-related content
  • You develop and represent strategic directions internally and externally in fundamental grid management issues (e.g. design of customer systems and alternative supply concepts, electricity storage, BKZ)
  • You mitigate risks and reduce costs for the Westenergie Group in connection with grid-related regulatory implementation issues (e.g. special grid fees, procedural implementation of grid-related market standards)
  • You work in association groups and E.ON expert groups and actively contribute and represent E.ON/Westenergie interests there
  • You are the contact person within Westenergie for fundamental network management issues, in particular for the unregulated third-party business, and ensure the transfer of best practice and advise the DSOs of the Westenergie Group
  • You provide strategic support for the future regulation of the natural gas distribution grid in terms of the Group optimum, e.g. future connection and supply issues relating to the transformation or dismantling of grid sections and the development of grid fees

What you bring to the table:

  • You have successfully completed a university degree in industrial engineering, law or a comparable degree
  • You have at least 5 years of professional experience in the energy industry and in-depth knowledge of the energy industry, regulatory and network management environment (guidelines, laws, ordinances, decisions of the Federal Network Agency) of the electricity and gas market for grid and metering point operators
  • You enjoy and have experience in drafting and interpreting laws, contracts and other legal documents
  • You are able to combine complex perspectives (commercial, legal and technical), analyze them, work out the essentials and prepare them in a solution-oriented and addressee-oriented manner
  • You use coherent and comprehensible arguments to convince others of your solution and can defend your own ideas even in the face of resistance
  • You don't let difficulties throw you off course and always keep the goal in sight and achieve good results even under particularly difficult conditions
  • You convey passion and enthusiasm for your own work
  • You approach new topics with a positive, constructive attitude and see challenges as opportunities
  • You have a good command of written and spoken English

What we offer you:

  • Diverse and interesting topics, an agile, dynamic, learning team with a trusting and open working environment. For a good and quick start, you will be assigned a mentor from our team and will be familiarized with the topics by team members
  • We support your individual training and development. On the job in particular, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects in a dynamic environment and take on initial responsibility for subject areas and projects
  • Your work-life balance is important to us! That's why we offer flexible working hours and 30 days' annual leave. You can also turn your "home" into an "office" to become even more flexible
  • When it comes to success at work, the compatibility of career and family is crucial for many people. Westenergie supports you as a family-friendly employer in various life situations

With our open and appreciative corporate culture, we welcome everyone. Because we are convinced that differences enrich us - be it in origin, gender, age, lifestyle and work styles, talents, abilities and limitations.
