Data Analyst / Data Scientist (m/f/d) – Forecasts for Solar and Wind Power
Here at energy & meteo systems, together with our partner companies emsys VPP and emsys grid services, we do our very best every day to efficiently integrate renewable energy into power grids and markets. To this end, we offer our customers — electricity retailers and grid operators worldwide — forward-looking software products and full-service solutions. In addition to wind and solar output forecasts, these include virtual power plants for controlling decentralized energy systems, as well as a platform concept for proactive grid planning.
Your Responsibilities
- As a data analyst, you’ll work at the intersection of programming, statistics, and critical thinking. Your responsibilities include:
- Using your datasets, you lay the foundation for professional analyses, thereby ensuring the highest possible quality of our predictions.
- You validate performance forecasts using existing statistical and analytical tools.
- Process Analysis: To further develop our forecasting system both in terms of content and operations, you’ll apply appropriate data science methods, identify internal process weaknesses, and develop optimization strategies.
- You’ll also contribute to internal and external projects—including those focused on providing statistically relevant data—and take on project management responsibilities.
- In doing so, you’ll work closely with our teams in meteorology, research, and software development.
Your Qualifications
- You have completed your engineering or science degree in data science/analytics, mathematics, (geo)physics, meteorology, or a related field.
- Ideally, you have gained some initial professional experience in the fields of data analysis, big data, artificial intelligence (AI), or machine learning (ML)—preferably as a Data Analytics Manager, Data Engineer, or in a similar role.
- You’re definitely well-versed in statistics, analytical methods, and algorithms—experience in software development and Python programming is also desirable.
- For you, data analysis is a bit like detective work: You enjoy searching for clues that lead you to the heart of the matter and tackling complex issues—and you bring strong analytical skills to
- understand and question.
- Even during time-sensitive phases, we can count on your dedicated commitment—you support your team even beyond core working hours and always keep your eyes on the goal.
- You communicate in a team-oriented manner and are confident in both German and English; additional language skills are a plus.
- We welcome additional knowledge of renewable energy, energy markets, or numerical weather predictions—and maybe you’ve even set up a weather model before—but in any case, you’re always eager to learn more.
