The waste-to-energy plant (MHKW) of Technische Betriebe Solingen was put into operation in 1969. The power plant generates 70 million KWh of electricity and 45 million KWh of district heating per year – an important energy generation plant in the heart of the Bergisch city of Solingen. A total of around 60 employees work in administration, production, maintenance and control.

Your tasks
- Planning, operation, maintenance and optimization of medium and low-voltage systems in power plant operation
- Monitoring and maintenance of protection and control technology as well as energy distribution systems
- Involvement in OT systems (PLC, SCADA, DCS) for controlling and monitoring power plant processes, including implementation of IT/OT security specifications
- Integration and further development of automation and digitalization solutions
- Analyzing and rectifying faults in electrical installations and OT systems
- Collaboration on modernization and investment projects in the field of electrical engineering and OT
- Documentation and ensuring compliance in accordance with applicable regulations
- (Application for this position with reference to the trainee option)
- Active support in the planning, installation, commissioning and maintenance of electrical engineering systems – accompanied by experienced mentors
- Gradual involvement in the design and optimization of modern control systems (e.g. SCADA/ICS) with increasing personal responsibility
- Guided fault diagnosis and troubleshooting in electrical systems to gain practical experience in system operation
- Support with risk analyses and safety assessments of OT systems, including introduction to relevant standards and best practices
Your qualifications
- Completed Bachelor’s degree (or diploma) in the field of (industrial) engineering in the fields of electrical engineering, computer engineering, energy technology or similar
- We would be delighted if you also have the following:
- Several years of professional experience in power plant operation or energy supply
- Good knowledge of protection and control technology as well as network protection systems and power distribution and the associated standards
- Experience with SCADA or other IC systems
- Knowledge of industrial networks and cybersecurity
- German language skills of at least level C1
- Willingness to participate in (remunerated) on-call duty and occasional assignments outside regular working hours
