In this newly created position, you will make a significant contribution to the implementation of the MPG's ambitious energy saving and greenhouse gas reduction targets in accordance with its Climate Action Plan. In close and continuous exchange with the general administration, the technical management and the management of the institutes, you will coordinate all associated tasks.
By providing intensive support to the institutes and facilities assigned to you, you will ensure that they are ready for certification in accordance with ISO 50001 and consolidate this in the long term. This requires strong communication and coordination skills, the ability to manage a wide range of activities in parallel and a high willingness to travel throughout Germany - including longer stays on site if necessary. Based in Munich, you will be responsible for several Max Planck Institutes in the North, South, East, West and Central regions of Germany that have joined together to form energy efficiency networks.
Your tasks will be
- Creating and maintaining relevant documentation for the energy management system in accordance with ISO 50001 and ensuring compliance with legal energy regulations and standards
- Accompanying external energy audits as well as preparing and conducting internal energy audits
- Carrying out energy and profitability calculations (in particular in accordance with DIN EN 17463 VALERi) to evaluate energy-saving projects
- Developing suitable energy-saving measures and designing and setting up an energy data measurement system, including recording energy-related performance and energy indicators
- Performing the interface function in the area of "Energy" between the management of the institutes and the general administration of the MPG and external service providers
- Conducting training courses on ISO 50001 standard content and coordinating sustainability measures in close coordination with the management of the institutes on site
What you bring with you
- Successfully completed scientific or technical university degree (Master's, Magister or Diplom) in a subject relevant to the tasks
- Knowledge of the relevant laws and regulations in the field of energy efficiency and environmental law, e.g. Building Energy Act (GEG), Energy Efficiency Act (EnEfG), Energy Services Act (EDL-G) as well as the relevant norms and standards in the context of ISO 50001 for energy management systems
- Experience in the planning, implementation, optimization and monitoring of energy management systems (e.g. according to ISO 50001), in the execution and preparation of energy audits, in the identification and implementation of energy-saving measures as well as practical knowledge in the use of energy software systems and software tools for the collection, evaluation, analysis and monitoring of energy consumption data
- Experience in dealing with AI applications or the willingness to familiarize yourself with corresponding systems
- Confident handling of Microsoft Office applications, in particular very good knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Analytical, structured way of working as well as strong communication skills and a confident manner
- High ability to work in a team and stress resistance, combined with a high degree of self-motivation
- Very good organizational and conceptual skills
- Willingness to travel regularly within Germany and to collaborate across locations
- Business fluent German (at least C1 level) and very good written and spoken English skills
What we offer you
You will work in a small, highly motivated team within the General Administration of the MPG, which is concerned with the transformation of the entire organization into a sustainable research operation. As part of a five-year fixed-term employment contract, we offer you, depending on your qualifications and professional experience, a salary up to salary group 14 TVöD Bund (with a proven Master's, Magister or Diplom degree) as well as various social benefits. You can find non-binding information on salary in the public service pay scale (TVöD Bund). Your workplace is located in the center of Munich and is easily accessible by public transport. Childcare facilities for children aged 6 months to 3 years are available in the vicinity of the office building.
