Engineer (m/f/d) Network Development & Protection Technology

We provide residential customers, businesses, and municipalities with a reliable energy supply as well as customized solutions that make life easier. We have been rooted in the region for over 100 years. We are committed to the region and support our customers with advice, products, and services. We do this in a personal, trustworthy, and professional manner.

Your Responsibilities

  • As a grid developer in the field of technical asset management, you will play an active role in shaping the energy transition: You will strategically plan and optimize our power grid, perform complex load flow and short-circuit current calculations, and develop technical solutions that ensure a reliable, efficient, and sustainable energy supply. We offer you a diverse and responsible role with plenty of creative freedom, as well as excellent opportunities for personal and professional growth.
  • Developing target network plans for the expansion of high-, medium-, and low-voltage grids, as well as systems to enhance expertise in the energy transition
  • Conducting load flow, short-circuit, protection, and reliability calculations in PowerFactory to optimize the grids—including the assessment of bottlenecks and the derivation of technical measures
  • Revising protection philosophies, defining selective protection strategies, selecting appropriate protection parameters, and developing concepts for the strategic advancement of protection and digitalization technology
  • Conducting asset simulations, developing technical concepts, comparing alternatives, and performing economic feasibility analyses under regulatory conditions to support innovative and efficient asset management
  • Evaluation and assurance of the grid connectivity of large-scale consumers, renewable energy plants, and battery energy storage systems (BESS)
  • Collaboration on interdisciplinary projects within a diverse team of young and experienced engineers

Your Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a comparable qualification.
  • In-depth knowledge of grid modeling, ideally using PowerFactory, as well as strategic asset management with a focus on grid development
  • Strong technical understanding of distribution grids, equipment, and regulatory frameworks
  • Experience working with renewable energy plants and storage systems is a plus
  • Strong analytical thinking, a structured approach to work, and a strong focus on solutions—combined with flexibility, the ability to work well in a team, and a passion for taking an active role in shaping projects
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, as well as very good written and oral communication skills in German

Benefits

  • As an employer, we offer you 30 days of vacation per year so that you can enjoy a healthy work-life balance. Your workweek consists of 38 hours (based on a full-time position) and runs from Monday through Friday. In addition, we are bound by collective bargaining agreements, which ensure fair and transparent working conditions. We also offer a wide range of additional benefits to make your time with us even more enjoyable and rewarding.
  • Energy Allowance: Are energy prices too high? We’re here to help with our energy allowance.
  • Company Pension Plan: Have you thought about your future yet? We have, too. To help ensure your financial security in retirement, you’re eligible for a company pension plan with us. You also have the option to set up a supplemental company pension plan through a salary conversion arrangement.
  • Continuing Education and Professional Development: Are you aiming for more, or do you want to further your education? Our managers are here to partner with you and support your professional and personal development.
  • Remote Work: We offer you the option to work remotely up to two days a week—provided the tasks and conditions of your position allow it. This gives you the flexibility you need in your daily life.
  • Flexible Work Hours: Need to quickly drop the kids off at daycare before work and go to the gym at lunchtime? No problem—with our flexible work hours, you can balance your professional and personal life.
  • Mobility: With us, you have the option to lease a JobRad or purchase a discounted Jobticket. This makes it easy for you to reach our locations in Worms, Alzey, and Rheinhessen.
  • Parking Spaces and Charging Stations: Do you commute by car? No problem. We have plenty of free parking spaces at all our locations, so you don’t have to worry about that. You also have the option to charge your electric vehicle for free at our facilities.
  • Bonuses: With us, you’ll receive competitive compensation, performance-based bonuses, an annual vacation bonus, a 13th month’s salary, and monthly capital-forming benefits.
  • Focus on Employees: We support your health through our workplace health management program and many other initiatives. With the Wellpass—which we subsidize—you can even work out at a wide variety of gyms throughout Germany.
