The Strategy & System Design department at TenneT ensures a safe working environment and supports the implementation of the corporate strategy including CSR and strategic controlling. It evaluates long-term system requirements and develops the grid design. The department carries out analyses such as congestion studies and market studies, creates standards and frameworks for electrical planning and defines functional requirements. It also manages customer connections, develops market designs, oversees regulatory issues and manages strategic projects such as M&A. She manages the strategy implementation process and moderates portfolio meetings.

Your tasks

  • As an expert in systemic protection requirements and operating concepts (m/f/d), you will play a central coordinating role in the safe and reliable design of the transmission grid. You will bring together the relevant specialist disciplines and ensure consistent and coordinated concepts.
  • Technical coordination: In this position, you will be responsible for the technical coordination of systemic protection requirements, requirements for system automation and contribute to operating concepts for grid connections, equipment and grid expansion projects and ensure that they are implemented in terms of system technology
  • Ensuring that requirements are met: You accompany grid expansion and connection projects from the perspective of system requirements and ensure that operational requirements, protection philosophies and aspects relevant to system management are integrated and coordinated at an early stage
  • Moderating interface function: Through professional exchange with internal and external stakeholders, you moderate conflicts of objectives between planning, operation and asset strategy, derive viable solutions and translate these into uniform concepts
  • Strategic view of the overall system: You are responsible for overarching system considerations with a focus on operational safety, selectivity and robustness of the overall system and assess the impact of concept decisions on operational network operation
  • Comprehensive working groups: The structured, conceptual way of working and active participation in interdisciplinary and interdisciplinary working groups round off your job profile

Your qualifications

  • Electrical engineering background: You have successfully completed a degree in electrical engineering (university/university of applied sciences) with a focus on electrical power engineering, protection technology, grid operation or high-voltage technology or have a comparable qualification
  • Relevant expertise in protection and operating concepts: You bring many years of professional experience in the field of protection and operating concepts of electrical grids in combination with knowledge of grid calculation tools, such as PowerFactory and PSCAD, as well as a deep, holistic understanding of systems
  • Technical leadership: In your career to date, you have taken on responsibility in a leading technical role – e.g. as a technical lead or senior expert with an overarching mandate – and are used to taking on technical responsibility
  • Strategic mindset: You are willing to get involved in specialist groups and overarching working groups. You will take on an integrating and moderating role, bringing together different professional perspectives and developing them into viable overall decisions
  • Language skills: Very good German and English skills, a willingness to engage in interdisciplinary exchange and to participate in national and international specialist committees round off your profile
