Efficient infrastructures are the lifelines of a modern society and economy. They secure Germany's future. As an independent regulatory authority, the Federal Network Agency is responsible for sustainable competition, future-proof networks and strong consumer protection. We employ around 3,000 people in Bonn, Mainz and 44 other locations. In the "Grid Development Electricity Transmission Grid, System Stability" department, we determine the need for expansion in the electricity transmission grid and examine and assess the future stability of the electricity system. Both are necessary in order to manage the transformation of the energy supply to a system characterized by renewable energies. This will set the fundamental course for the success of the energy transition. The department is therefore caught between the conflicting priorities of engineering and energy industry analysis of the complex energy system, political expectations and gaining social acceptance. In this context, there are many opportunities to help shape the energy system of the future.


Your tasks

You will evaluate the future safe system operation with regard to system stability in a future energy supply system dominated by power electronics You will carry out simulation calculations on sub-aspects of system stability (e.g. voltage, angle and frequency stability) and ensure that the corresponding simulation software is adapted accordingly You will lead discussions with system stability stakeholders such as system manufacturers and grid operators on the basis of convincing factual arguments


Your qualifications

You have completed a Master's degree with 300 ECTS credits or a Diplom (university) degree in electrical engineering, energy technology, industrial engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science or a comparable field of study or will complete such a degree shortly You have a sound knowledge of the physical principles of power transmission and generation or programming skills or experience in dealing with computer-aided simulation calculations Ideally, you have knowledge of stability phenomena in the electricity supply system Ideally, you already have knowledge of energy economics You have good comprehension skills, the ability to think abstractly and a high level of motivation You have a confident and engaging manner You are a committed, reliable and flexible person who works independently and in a results-oriented manner, even under time pressure in difficult situations You have good planning, assertiveness and organizational skills as well as good analytical and negotiating skills You are open-minded and cooperative in a team, have experience in interdisciplinary cooperation and have strong and proven interpersonal skills You have good written and verbal communication skills and good English language skills You are willing to travel on business
