Our client is Stadtwerke Bernau GmbH, which offers short distances to the countryside and fast connections to Berlin in Bernau, a town with over 700 years of history and modern development areas. Here at Stadtwerke, around 150 employees work as distribution network operators, basic suppliers and suppliers (electricity and natural gas) to supply the boomtown of Bernau. It also operates district heating and several local heating networks. The portfolio also includes e-mobility, photovoltaics and heating concepts as well as the technical and commercial management of water supply and wastewater disposal. In order to keep pace with the development of the markets, we are looking for an industry insider with a focus on the commodities electricity, gas and CO2 in the role of

• Focus: Energy procurement & fundamental issues
• You will be responsible for energy procurement and the energy management of related issues, such as the further development and marketing of generation (plants). You will also deal with strategic issues for the management.
• Review processes and set them up economically: Operational and strategic development of energy procurement, optimization of CHP plants on the electricity market, interface and impetus to sales in terms of pricing, product development, product procurement, volume monitoring
• Seeing the big picture, making assumptions, creating forecasts, deriving them into a strategy, raising, scrutinizing and answering complex questions in an interdisciplinary manner with a focus on the energy markets (procurement and marketing)
• Creating order and foundations: Secure the database, drive forward digitalization, collaborate with service providers if necessary
• Revise the risk manual, assess, weigh up and communicate risks, prepare and lead the risk committee
• Evaluate new, innovative ways to implement the decarbonization of heating networks and shed new light on electricity generation
• Contact person, questioner and technical expert; sometimes getting on the nerves of others to question issues and find solutions

You know what you are doing because you know the energy industry! You need vision and insight, assertiveness and empathy, cleverness and intelligence to get things moving. Your educational background could be a bachelor’s or master’s degree in economics, energy technology, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering or physics, coupled with knowledge of energy industry content and interrelationships. Perhaps you are currently working in a management consultancy, in an auditing company, for a contractor or as an auditor and would like to get to know the other side.
