
You. We are looking for a convincing leader for our communications technology division within Westnetz GmbH Systemführung as of 01.01.2027 (full-time or part-time (at least 80%)) at the Essen, Dortmund, Wesseling-Berzdorf or Arnsberg locations, who will be responsible for a modern technical division with around 200 employees. At a time of profound technological change, you will be responsible for the further development of a critical infrastructure segment that contributes significantly to the security of supply and digitalization of energy networks.
This is what you stand up for:
- You will manage and develop a division with around 200 employees, including a multi-level management structure in accordance with the Westnetz management model.
- You are responsible for a budget of around 50 million euros and ensure efficient, future-oriented management.
- You will ensure the secure, stable and economical operation of the communications network including the Smart Grid Operation Center (SGOC) and the following key areas:
- Data Networks
- Voice & Platform Services
- Security & Networks
- Operation & Communication Cables
- You will develop concepts and processes, translate these into operational concepts and take on leading tasks in the management and prioritization of large technology and infrastructure projects, including modernization, standardization and digitalization of the OT/telecommunications landscape.
- You provide impetus for the OT strategy and contribute your expertise to Group projects in a targeted manner, especially in topics with high relevance for operational technology, taking into account the special security requirements.
- You actively participate in committees of the E.ON Leadership Model, shape standards, represent Westnetz at Group level and promote an open, innovation-oriented network and knowledge culture.
- You will manage and coordinate seconded employees in Group-wide project and committee structures and assume responsibility in exchanges with national and international stakeholders.
- You strategically develop communications technology, recognize market and technological developments at an early stage and actively shape the future of the division.
- You will be responsible for the implementation planning, parameterization and construction coordination of all relevant network and communication components.
- You ensure efficient service levels and develop a resilient, customer-oriented service portfolio together with internal partners.
- You attach particular importance to the topic of HSE and actively promote a practiced safety culture
What you bring to the table:
- You have a university degree in a relevant field (e.g. electrical engineering, power engineering, communications engineering, computer science).
- You have many years of experience in network operations, communications engineering or comparable technical infrastructure areas – ideally related to OT.
- You have management experience across several levels and are characterized by goal orientation, empathy and clear decision-making skills.
- You have excellent knowledge of the operation of technical communication networks and the relevant control technology.
- You have a high degree of initiative, creative drive and experience in continuous process optimization (CIP).
- You inspire employees to embrace change, drive innovation and establish modern working methods.
- You have strong communication skills and are fluent in English.
- Your thinking is business and results-oriented; budget and management skills are a matter of course for you.
