Head of Materials Management (all genders)
As a regional, municipal energy services company with around 700 employees, WEMAG is one of the largest energy suppliers in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Since 2010, we have pursued a strictly ecological course. We support and advise household, commercial, agricultural and industrial customers and supply them with electricity and natural gas nationwide. Modern customer solutions and energy services round off our sales offering. We are expanding the electricity grid to make it fit for the energy transition. We operate and develop our own green power plants in numerous project companies.
Your tasks
We are looking for a committed individual who will gradually familiarize themselves with the Materials Management department in the field of energy supply. With a clear eye for efficiency and innovation, you will take responsibility for the management, optimization and future-oriented development of the department. Play an active role in shaping the energy transition and help to take the security of supply and sustainability of our processes to the next level!
Your tasks will include
- Strategic and operational management: overall responsibility for the department using modern management approaches, agile methods and change management to achieve strategic goals
- Employee development and corporate culture: promoting a motivating working atmosphere through transparent communication, clear targets, regular feedback and targeted coaching and mentoring to strengthen leadership skills
- Safety and budget responsibility: ensuring corporate safety through training, audits and compliance with legal requirements as well as economic management of the department through strategic budget planning and control
- Regulatory requirements & sustainability: Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, particularly in terms of public procurement law and sustainability requirements, to ensure legally compliant and responsible procurement processes
- Strategic & operational procurement: managing and optimizing purchasing processes through innovative procurement strategies to sustainably reduce costs and risks and to open up new purchasing options
- Warehouse & supplier logistics: responsibility for materials planning, taking stock levels, replenishment times and costs into account
- Technology & digitalization: analysis and implementation of new technologies and digital solutions to increase efficiency and improve processes in purchasing and warehouse logistics
Your profile
- Completed (technical) university degree in business administration, logistics, industrial engineering or a comparable qualification
- Extensive experience and demonstrable success in a responsible management position in materials management / warehousing / logistics, preferably with a connection to the region and in the municipal sector
- Sound knowledge of modern purchasing and logistics processes, especially in the safe and sustainable supply of materials to energy supply companies, as well as knowledge of the specific procurement regulations of grid and infrastructure companies
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legal requirements, in particular in public procurement law, environmental regulations and occupational safety regulations, and their practical application in operational business
You will also impress with
- Strategic and entrepreneurial thinking with a high sense of responsibility for security of supply
- Strong social skills, self-confident and personable demeanor, with the necessary sensitivity in dealing with people
- Strong negotiating skills and assertiveness when working with suppliers, authorities and internal and external stakeholders
- Sound knowledge of change and multi-project management as well as managing external service providers and project partners
- Experience in goal- and results-oriented leadership and employee development
- Strong IT affinity and very good handling of MS Office
