At 50Hertz, more than 2,100 people work to ensure that electricity flows reliably, with minimal losses, and in an optimally controlled manner over long distances at all times. As a TSO, we play a central coordinating role—socially, technically, and economically—in bringing about the energy transition. Our goal: By 2032, we aim to integrate 100 percent renewable energy into the grid and system in a safe and affordable manner.

As one of four transmission system operators in Germany, 50Hertz is responsible for electricity transmission at the highest voltage level—the level on which everything depends when it comes to grid stability and security of supply in Germany and Europe. We are part of a European grid network and cooperate directly with colleagues throughout Europe. Together with the Belgian grid operator Elia, 50Hertz forms a European company: the Elia Group. We work closely together on key issues. Individual departments, such as IT or procurement, are group-wide functions, meaning that Elia and 50Hertz colleagues work together in a joint team across offices located in Berlin and Brussels.
