Head of waste-to-energy plant operations in Ruhleben (f/m/d)

Your tasks
- Ensuring the operation of the plant
- You are responsible for the safe, trouble-free and legally compliant operation of the waste incineration plant.
- Managing and developing employees
- You lead a team of plant engineers, shift supervisors and plant operators, promote their qualifications and ensure sustainable personnel development.
- Monitoring emissions and environmental regulations
- You ensure compliance with all legal requirements (e.g. in accordance with the 17th BImSchV) and work closely with the authorities.
- Optimizing plant operation
- You analyze operating data and develop measures to increase efficiency, optimize availability and reduce emissions and consistently follow up on their implementation.
- Coordinating maintenance and overhauls
- You control and communicate maintenance measures in close coordination with the maintenance department to ensure plant availability.
- Fault management and root cause analysis
- You initiate measures in the event of malfunctions, analyze causes and develop sustainable solutions to prevent recurrences.
- Ensuring occupational health and safety
- You consistently implement occupational health and safety measures and further develop the safety culture in the company.
- Interface to material flow management / delivery
- You coordinate cooperation with material flow management and waste logistics. You will ensure that the plant is fed evenly, that quality requirements (e.g. calorific value) are met and that bunker management is handled safely.
- Documentation and reporting
- You will be responsible for operating reports, key figure analyses and notifications to internal and external bodies.
Your qualifications
- Completed scientific university education (university diploma / master’s degree) in engineering in the field of process engineering or mechanical engineering or proof of recognition as “other employee”
- Many years of specialist professional experience in the management of the operation of power plants
- Good business management skills to independently carry out cost and profitability calculations as well as utility value analyses
- Quick comprehension and analytical thinking, perseverance, strict pursuit of objectives, time management, assertiveness and motivational skills
- Ability to find accepted and viable solutions to diverging interests through target group-oriented, confidence-building communication
- Project management and IT skills (e.g. MS Office, SAP)

- Remuneration: We pay according to TVöD VKA with regular pay scale adjustments, an annual special payment and an additional company pension scheme (VBL). This corresponds to a total of at least 74,800 – 105,400 euros/year in pay group 15, depending on professional experience.
