Verkehrsgesellschaft Frankfurt am Main, or VGF for short, is the municipal transport company in Frankfurt and operates all subway and streetcar services in Frankfurt. Around 400 rail vehicles provide comprehensive mobility on 9 subway and 10 streetcar lines. In order for Frankfurt’s trams and subway trains to run reliably, they need a stable traction current supply. This is converted in our 54 rectifier stations and fed to the vehicles via overhead contact line systems. The traction current department ensures that all these systems are planned, maintained and quickly repaired in the event of faults.

Your tasks

  • As part of the specialist planning team, you will be responsible for project management for the new construction and modernization of our rectifier plants
  • You will monitor and support major construction projects in the area of traction current across all phases of construction
  • You will plan and implement renewal measures in the field of traction current technology
  • As part of our infrastructure projects, you will ensure that our vehicles are optimally supplied with traction current during operation
  • You will be responsible for preparing, participating in and issuing public tenders and coordinating external companies and service providers

Your qualifications

  • You have successfully completed an electrical engineering apprenticeship with further training as a technician or master craftsman – alternatively you have completed an engineering degree in electrical engineering or mechatronics and have already gained practical experience
  • You have relevant knowledge in the planning or support of energy supply and distribution systems
  • You enjoy familiarizing yourself with new subject areas and also like to be hands-on
  • You have good organizational skills, strong communication skills and enjoy working in a team
  • A class B driving license is a prerequisite
