Your Responsibilities
As the MSR Team Leader (m/f/d), you will assume technical and managerial leadership of a newly formed team and actively help shape its development from the very beginning. You will plan and manage your team’s operational capacity, be responsible for the professional development of your team members, and ensure the efficient allocation of tasks across the areas of control technology, smart metering, submetering, and meter management. In addition, you will combine strategic and technical responsibility for control and monitoring technology with the new areas of metering: You will set the strategic guidelines for the measurement and control technology at SWBe and WAV, monitor the market, and derive technical and regulatory measures from this analysis, make policy decisions regarding Section 14a of the Energy Industry Act (EnWG) and Redispatch 2.0, and oversee the investment and maintenance budgets for control and monitoring technology. In the area of smart metering and meter management, you will assume overall technical responsibility, ensure compliance with statutory rollout deadlines and quotas, and approve strategic decisions regarding submetering and meter management.
You will represent your team in cross-functional committees, in dealings with external grid operators and service providers, and—at the escalation level—with the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) and 50Hertz. Last but not least, you’ll evaluate new technologies such as wireless and IoT solutions (e.g., LoRaWAN) from a technical perspective, support the development of digital twins for our electricity and district heating networks, and thereby continuously advance measurement and control technology for all utilities.
Your Profile
You have a degree in electrical engineering, automation engineering, energy engineering, or a comparable qualification, supplemented by several years of professional experience in measurement, control, and regulation technology or control systems engineering in the energy or utilities sector. Some leadership experience is a plus, but not required, as we are primarily looking for someone with the drive to build and develop a new team. You bring in-depth knowledge of process control technology as well as control and automation technology, and ideally have already had some exposure to the Metering Point Operation Act (MsbG), smart metering processes, or the regulatory framework under the Energy Industry Act (EnWG) and Section 14a. You stand out thanks to a structured, solution-oriented approach to work, strong communication skills when dealing with internal and external partners, and a passion for integrating technical and regulatory topics. An interest in new technologies such as LoRaWAN, IoT solutions, or digital twins rounds out your profile.
