Operations Manager, Waste-to-Energy Plant in Ruhleben (m/f/d)

Your Responsibilities
- Ensuring Plant Operations
- You are responsible for the safe, trouble-free, and legally compliant operation of the waste-to-energy plant.
- Leading and Developing Employees
- You will lead a team of operations engineers, shift supervisors, and plant operators, support their professional development, and ensure sustainable workforce development.
- Monitoring Emissions and Environmental Regulations
- You ensure compliance with all legal requirements (e.g., under the 17th Federal Immission Control Ordinance) and work closely with regulatory authorities.
- Optimizing Plant Operations
- You will analyze operational data and develop measures to increase efficiency, optimize availability, and reduce emissions, and you will consistently monitor their implementation.
- Coordinating maintenance and inspections
- You manage and communicate maintenance measures in close coordination with the maintenance department to ensure plant availability.
- Fault Management and Root Cause Analysis
- You will initiate measures in the event of operational disruptions, analyze the causes, and develop sustainable solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Ensuring Occupational Safety and Health
- You consistently implement occupational safety and health measures and further develop the safety culture within the company.
- Interface with Material Flow Management / Receiving
- You coordinate collaboration with material flow management and waste logistics. In doing so, you ensure consistent plant feeding, compliance with quality requirements (e.g., calorific value), and safe handling of bunker management.
- Documentation and Reporting
- You are responsible for operational reports, key performance indicator analyses, and reports to internal and external parties.
Your Qualifications
- Completed university degree (bachelor’s or master’s) in engineering with a specialization in process engineering or mechanical engineering, or proof of recognition as an “other employee”
- Extensive professional experience in managing the operations division of power plants
- Strong business acumen to independently perform cost and profitability calculations as well as utility analyses
- Quick comprehension and analytical thinking, perseverance, strict focus on goals, time management, assertiveness, and the ability to motivate others
- Ability to facilitate accepted and viable solutions in the face of conflicting interests through communication tailored to the target audience that builds trust
- Practical project management and IT skills (e.g., MS Office, SAP)

- Compensation: We pay according to the TVöD VKA collective bargaining agreement, with regular wage adjustments, an annual bonus, and an additional company pension plan (VBL). In Pay Grade 15, this amounts to a total of at least 74,800–105,400 euros per year, depending on professional experience.
