Project Staff Member (m/f/d) for Climate-Neutral Buildings
The dena (German Energy Agency) is a center of expertise for the practical implementation of the energy transition and climate protection. It addresses the challenges of building a climate-neutral society and supports the German government in achieving its energy and climate policy goals. Since its founding in 2000, the agency has been developing solutions, putting them into practice, and bringing together partners from politics, business, science, and all sectors of society—both nationally and internationally. dena is a project company and a publicly owned enterprise under federal ownership. The shareholders of dena are the German federal government and dena itself.
Your responsibilities
- Your work will focus on adapting proven concepts for climate-neutral construction to specific local conditions in an international context, and on sharing the necessary practical knowledge regarding planning and implementation with local project partners through our pilot projects and networking activities.
- Participation in pilot projects exclusively abroad, particularly in countries in Central Asia and Eastern Europe as well as South and East Asia (with a focus on China), and occasionally also in Africa and South America
- Contributing your practical experience—if possible—to a five-member team of experts from various disciplines in the building and neighborhood sectors
- Structured application and further development of our approaches to implementing efficiency and sustainability measures in the international building and neighborhood sector
- Sharing your knowledge of the legal framework in Germany for minimizing energy demand and the use of renewable energy in new construction and renovation
- Networking, communication with national and international partners, opinion leaders, stakeholders, and industry experts
Your qualifications
- We are looking for thoughtful and dedicated colleagues who want to actively help shape the local energy transition within an international context. Requirements include:
- A degree in engineering or a related field
- Basic technical knowledge in the field of energy-efficient construction and renewable energy for individual buildings and larger portfolios, as well as in municipal heat planning
- Knowledge of the legal requirements regarding energy demand and energy supply for buildings in Germany
- Very strong skills in building energy analysis, particularly in thermodynamic simulation, and in working with geographic information and large datasets
- Initial experience in the planning of construction projects and in professional project management
- Confident demeanor and a commitment to building strong relationships with partners and clients
- Strong communication skills, willingness to work hard and travel
- Excellent written and spoken German and English
- Knowledge of another language from the regions mentioned is a plus
