Our “Energy Policy and Energy Markets” department examines and evaluates the political and institutional framework for shaping a sustainable energy system.

Your tasks
- Your area of responsibility includes working on the reports and statements prepared by the Expert Council for Climate Issues. The Expert Council for Climate Issues has a mandate based on the Federal Climate Protection Act (KSG). This includes in particular the annual review of the greenhouse gas projections and greenhouse gas emissions of the previous year published by the Federal Environment Agency as well as statements on planned measures and other climate policy issues.
- You will contribute to analyses on the ex-post and ex-ante development of greenhouse gas emissions in Germany and the evaluation of climate protection policy instruments in the sectors covered by the KSG (industry, buildings, transport, agriculture, waste, land use).
- You will also support other research projects in the Fraunhofer ISI’s Energy Policy business unit. In this context, you will work on energy and climate policy issues, in particular on energy demand, as part of interdisciplinary studies for national and international clients from industry and politics.
- Both in your work for the Expert Council and for the Fraunhofer ISI, you will work in a team and use many different methods, such as data analysis, surveys or modeling.
- If you are interested, there is also the possibility of an accompanying doctorate.
Your qualifications
- Academic Master’s degree in political, economic, social or engineering sciences or a comparable subject area
- In-depth knowledge of one or more of the sectors mentioned in the Federal Climate Protection Act and initial professional experience – e.g. as part of student activities – in the areas of responsibility mentioned
- Interest in political contexts of climate and energy policy as well as in methods for evaluating and analyzing policy measures – including their achievement of objectives and socio-economic impacts
- Potential and interest in further scientific development and profile building
- Desire for interdisciplinary collaboration, an independent way of working and willingness to cooperate
- Very good German and good English skills to present work results convincingly in written and oral form.
