Your tasks
- With a high degree of freedom, you are on the road in the distribution grid area with “your” VW Caddy, which is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, to your work locations. You are your own boss out there and your work plays a key role in ensuring the safety and reliability of the electrical supply networks.

- Installation and maintenance of protection systems
- Analyzing and rectifying faults
- Understanding and improving circuit diagrams
- Close feedback with the control room, grid operation and grid planning
- Testing and parameterization of protection devices
- Documentation and reporting
- Development and implementation of protection concepts
Your qualifications
You don’t need a degree to do this job. Rather, Stadtwerke Witten needs a colleague who has practical training as an electronics technician for industrial engineering or energy system electronics technician as a foundation and would like, but does not necessarily need, further training as a technician in electrical, energy system or automation technology or as a master craftsman in electrical engineering or as a network foreman. What is really good is in-depth knowledge of ABB, SPRECHER Automation, Schneider Electric or SIEMENS technology, which you are already familiar with in your current field of work – perhaps from the control of industrial/production plants.

The service company supplies the population in the supply area with energy and water and operates the public baths and a passenger boat service on the Ruhr. Stadtwerke Witten GmbH is also the distribution network operator with around 500 transformer stations (no substations) and a 1,000 km long electricity network. Here, new construction, maintenance, grid operation, control technology, fault clearance, telecontrol technology and maintenance are carried out with the utmost precision in order to guarantee security of supply.
