GVG Rhein-Erft GmbH, headquartered in Hürth, is a municipally owned company and regional energy provider for the Rhein-Erft district as well as parts of the Cologne metropolitan area. Since 1956, GVG has been committed to ensuring a reliable energy supply in the region. With approximately 120 employees, the company supplies energy to about 80,000 customers from private households, commerce, industry, and public institutions. GVG is backed by a strong shareholder structure comprising municipal and energy industry partners, combining regional roots, business stability, and operational flexibility. GVG’s shareholders are rhenag Rheinische Energie AG, Stadtwerke Hürth AöR, the City of Frechen, Stadtwerke Wesseling GmbH, the Rhein-Erft District, the City of Pulheim, and Stadtwerke Erftstadt.
GVG is more than a traditional energy supplier: GVG sees itself as a reliable local energy partner that plays a key role in shaping the region. Fair prices, sustainable products, and personalized service define its operations, as does its commitment to increasing energy efficiency and further expanding sustainable energy generation. Beyond the traditional distribution of natural gas and electricity, GVG is continuously expanding its service portfolio and offers future-oriented energy solutions such as photovoltaic systems and wall boxes. In doing so, it combines a commitment to the region with innovation and actively contributes to the sustainable energy transition.
We are seeking an entrepreneurial and visionary leader (f/m/d) to join the management team as soon as possible, who will further advance GVG as a key player in the region’s energy transition.

- You will further develop the organization, processes, and leadership culture, and create the conditions necessary for employees to actively support the transformation of the energy industry.
- You will drive the digitalization of customer interfaces and infrastructure and position GVG Rhein-Erft as a modern, efficient, and customer-oriented utility.
- You will work in a spirit of trust with the Supervisory Board and shareholders and represent GVG Rhein-Erft with confidence in dealings with municipalities, partners, government agencies, associations, customers, and the public.

- You hold a college degree, for example in economics, engineering, or law, ideally supplemented by an additional qualification in the energy sector.
- You have several years of leadership experience and a track record of delivering results in the energy sector, preferably at a municipal energy utility, public utility, grid operator, or a comparable energy company.
- You have a broad understanding of value creation in the energy sector and can assess the significance of market, infrastructure, and regulatory issues for the strategic direction of an energy supplier.
- You manage companies with sound business acumen and make well-informed decisions regarding profit performance, investments, resource allocation, and opportunities and risks.
- You are familiar with working within municipal structures, committees, and shareholder groups, and you navigate the interplay of business, political, and public interests with confidence.
