Specialist in approval planning with a focus on species and area protection (m/f/d)

TenneT is growing in order to achieve its strategic goals: We are tackling the transformation of the energy supply. We are making the energy transition! Join us – with a job that really makes a difference! We are looking for a passionate specialist in approval planning with a focus on species and area protection (m/f/d) at the Bayreuth or Lehrte site, maybe that’s you?
Large Projects AC Germany is an integral part and key factor of the German energy transition and actively contributes to a more sustainable, greener future. We plan, approve and build all large-scale AC projects as part of the energy transition. An important basis for our projects is the high quality of the power we generate.
TenneT is a leading European grid operator. We are committed to a secure and reliable electricity supply – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We are helping to shape the energy transition – for a sustainable, reliable and affordable energy future. As the first cross-border transmission system operator, we plan, build and operate a high-voltage and extra-high-voltage grid with a length of over 25,000 kilometers in the Netherlands and large parts of Germany and enable the European energy market with our 17 interconnectors to neighboring countries. With a turnover of 9.2 billion euros and total assets of 45 billion euros, we are one of the largest investors in national and international electricity grids, on land and at sea. Every day, our 8,300 employees give their best and ensure that more than 43 million end consumers can rely on a stable supply of electricity in line with our values of responsibility, courage and networking.

Your tasks

  • In this role, you will provide overarching support for all our grid expansion projects by providing technical advice, knowledge management, standards and working aids. You will develop standards and manage process improvements (including best practice approaches) with a focus on nature conservation in the context of planning and approval.
  • You will support, accompany and advise our grid expansion projects on nature conservation issues and tasks within the planning and approval procedures and develop solutions to technical problems together with the projects
  • As a contact person, you support our grid expansion projects from a technical perspective in complying with nature conservation law (in particular species protection and Natura 2000) and ensure the implementation of uniform quality standards and specifications across all projects
  • You support and advise our projects in the basic nature conservation assessment and data collection or mapping as part of the procedures
  • You represent TenneT and the Environmental Planning & Licensing team in internal and external committees with a planning and environmental focus, as well as vis-à-vis authorities and external stakeholders
  • Our work does not end with the approval procedures: we support the project teams in placing particular emphasis on the rapid, economic and, in particular, safe construction feasibility of the measures as early as the approval planning stage. In this way, we make an important contribution to the success of the energy transition

Your qualifications

  • We are not only looking for qualifications, but above all for real people who enrich our company and are energized.
  • A degree in natural sciences in the field of biology, environmental sciences, spatial and landscape planning or a similar field of study or a comparable qualification is the basis of your success
  • You have experience with approval procedures and authorities (spatial planning/federal planning, planning approval, BImSchG) as well as knowledge in the coordination and processing of approval documents and the necessary basic data collection / mapping
  • Experience with geographic information systems (GIS) and various database systems (Access) is desirable
  • Specific specialist knowledge of species groups relevant to planning (especially avifauna) is an advantage
  • You have very good oral and written communication skills in German and English in combination with strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • A high degree of assertiveness and the willingness to travel occasionally, primarily with a company car (driving license class B) round off your profile
