Trainee (m/f/d) in the Power Grid Division
We, FairNetz GmbH, are the utility operator in Reutlingen and in many municipalities throughout the region. With over 300 employees, we ensure the reliable and sustainable operation of electricity, natural gas, district heating, and drinking water networks. We are actively and proactively shaping the energy transition using state-of-the-art technology, smart distribution grids, the integration of renewable energy sources, innovative digitalization strategies, and the promotion of electric mobility.
Your Responsibilities
- In our trainee program, you can expect exciting hands-on assignments in various departments at FairNetz GmbH, such as Grid Development & Asset Management, Planning & Coordination, and the day-to-day operation of the power grid. As you rotate through the different departments, you’ll actively participate in their work and gain insight into their day-to-day operations. In addition, you’ll develop an understanding of the cross-functional connections and processes across the three departments. Program duration: 18 months Permanent employment contract You’ll work closely on various projects and, in doing so, get to know the different departments within the Electricity Division. Key insights include:
- Grid Development: Independently addressing challenges and developing concepts and solutions in the areas of cross-divisional target grid planning
- Grid model development: Independently and with a forward-looking approach, calculating the integration potential of photovoltaic systems and electric vehicle charging stations using FairNetz’s digital twin
- Power Grid Planning: From detailed planning and advising customers on technical issues to managing and monitoring cost budgets, schedules, and compliance with technical specifications
- Monitoring and securing the power grid: Supporting the digitization of grids, integrating measurement data, and further developing grid operations management in the low-voltage sector
Your Qualifications
- A master’s degree in one of the following fields: engineering, energy engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field
- Enthusiasm for topics related to the energy industry, digitalization, and agile work methods, and ideally some initial practical experience
- Team spirit, strong communication skills, enthusiasm, as well as independence and a sense of responsibility
- Good IT skills (MS Office, etc.)
- Class B driver’s license

- Our compensation is based on the TV-V collective bargaining agreement and, at RSV, on the WBO collective bargaining agreement. Each position is evaluated and compensated based on performance.

- A significant portion of the costs for a supplementary pension plan is covered. In addition, private pension plans are supported through deferred compensation.
- Work Hours and Annual Leave
- Our workweek is 39 hours. Depending on the position and where possible, flexible work schedules or flex-time models are offered. Annual leave amounts to 30 working days.
