Consultant (f/m/d) Market design policy issues
As the umbrella organization of the energy and water industry, BDEW, together with its regional organizations and its more than 2,000 member companies, is pursuing the major goal of leading Germany towards climate neutrality with a secure and efficient energy supply and advocating safe and sustainable water management.
The Trading and Procurement department is the central point of contact for the energy industry for all energy trading issues in Germany and Europe. Key topics include the further development of market design in energy trading and the development of market access in wholesale trading with gas, hydrogen, electricity and CO2 certificates. The department also makes an active contribution to strengthening the European internal energy market in the European associations and in regional cooperation.
The preparation of topics and the development of solutions is carried out in close cooperation with our member companies, which often send long-standing experts and managers, including company management, to the relevant BDEW committees.
Your tasks
- Focus on the independent processing of topics in the field of energy trading, in particular on fundamental issues in market design in an evolving, dynamic environment
- Preparation of technical statements, argumentation papers and industry positions
- Exchange and close cooperation with internal and external experts when examining issues and developing proposed solutions
- Leading projects and workshops with internal and external participants
- Representing specialist political interests vis-à-vis members of parliament and ministry representatives at EU, federal and state level
- Supporting and participating in internal association committees as well as representing the association and participating in external committees, including at European level (e.g. Eurogas, Eurelectric) or events
- Media preparation of topics, e.g. through specialist articles, webinars and the conception of information and discussion events as well as the technical and content-related preparation of lectures/presentations
Your profile
- Successfully completed university degree (diploma/master’s degree), preferably with a focus on economics, energy economics; relevant professional or industry experience is an advantage
- Very good knowledge of the energy industry and current trends in national and European energy policy as well as basic energy industry contexts
- Convincing personality with a confident manner, negotiating and argumentation skills and very good written communication skills as well as the ability to present specialist topics to different target groups in a concise and understandable way
- Experience in project management and moderation
- Very good written and spoken English skills and very good knowledge of standard Office programs
